Oh, welcome back, Mr. Bond. (Oh, and Skyfall spoiler ahead…)
The first teaser trailer for the new 007 movie Spectre was released on Friday and shows star Daniel Craig hot on the trail of yet another shady syndicate of nefarious types, this time adrift from MI6, fresh off the loss of M and brooding more than ever.
Aka, he’s “a kite dancing in a hurricane,” as it’s put to him to so perfectly.
The movie is the 24th James Bond film and also stars newcomers Monica Bellucci,Léa Seydoux, Stephanie Sigman, Sherlock‘s Andrew Scott and and Christoph Waltz, who is playing a character named Franz Oberhauser. Many 007 fans have speculated that he is actually portraying the infamous Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
Even Sir Roger Moore, who played the British secret agent in seven movies in the ’70s and ’80s and faced off against the baddie in For Your Eyes Only, appears eager to see him back in action.
Studio Sony Pictures have not commented and Waltz, who won an Oscar for his gripping performance as Nazi officer in Inglorious Basterds and has what is perhaps one of the best onscreen smirks of all time, remained coy when pressed for details about his Spectre role on Late Night With Seth Meyers in December.
Naomie Harris is also reprises her role as Eve Moneypenny, which she debuted in the previous film, Skyfall, while Ralph Fiennes is also returning.
Spectre is the fourth film starring Craig as James Bond. The actor is the seventh actor to play the role. The first was Sean Connery and Moore was the fourth.
Spectre and is set to be released on Nov. 6, more than 52 years after the first big screen installment in the iconic spy series, Dr. No, hit theaters. The title means “ghost” or “threat” and the first poster for the movie was released last week.
