Kansas gunman kills 3, injures 14 before failing in shootout with police

A gunman armed with what military called an “assault-style” arms killed 3 people and harmed 14 others in Kansas Thursday before he was killed by a military officer. 

All 3 victims and 12 of a harmed were shot at inside Excel Industries, a plant in Hesston that creates grass mower products, Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton said. Of those hurt, 10 were critically wounded, he said.

Authorities have not strictly identified a defunct suspect, though mixed co-workers identified a shooter to internal media as Cedric Ford. Walton would not plead a motive, though told reporters there were “some things that triggered this individual.”

The shootings began during about 5 p.m. internal time, when a gunman was in a automobile and shot a male on a travel in a circuitously city of Newton, distinguished him in a shoulder.
